За первую половину 2013 года среднее количество спама в расчете на каждую учетную запись в социальных сетях подскочило на 355%. Nexgate предлагает использовать термин "социальный спам".

Согласно собранной компанией статистике, спамом является каждое двухсотое сообщение, распространяемое в соцсетях. При этом 5% всех социальных приложений предназначены исключительно для распространения спам, пишет Delo.ua.

Спамеры переключили внимание на социальные сети в связи с совершенствованием систем безопасности и фильтрации входящих сообщений в почтовых клиентах.

Для рассылки прямых сообщений в социальных сетях создаются специальные учетные записи, зачастую связанные с названием какого-либо бренда или именем известного лица, но фактически мало с ними связанные. Пять из семи новых аккаунтов в соцсетях являются спамерскими, при этом такие пользователи размещают намного большие объемы контента и делают это быстрее, чем владельцы обычных учетных записей.

Наиболее высока доля спама в Facebook и на YouTube, она практически в 100 раз выше, чем в других социальных СМИ. Ранее итальянские исследователи посчитали, что спамерский бизнес на Facebook стоит около $200 млн, а размещение одной записи со спам-ссылкой приносит от $13 до $58 в зависимости от количества отметок "нравится" на странице пользователя и в самом сообщении.
Nexgate проанализировала 60 млн записей Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube и LinkedIn за 2011-2013 годы.
