Новообраний президент США Дональд Трамп став «Людиною року 2024» за версією американського журналу Time. Обкладинку з Трампом вже опублікували на сайті тижневика.

 

Головний редактор Time Сем Джейкобс зазначив, що з тих пір, як Трамп почав балотуватися в президенти в 2015 році, «мабуть, ніхто не зіграв більшої ролі в зміні курсу політики та історії, ніж він».

«Сьогодні ми є свідками відродження популізму, зростання недовіри до інститутів, які визначили минуле століття, і розмивання віри в те, що ліберальні цінності приведуть до кращого життя більшості людей. Трамп є й агентом, і бенефіціаром усього цього. Дональд Трамп став людиною року за версією Time у 2024 році за організацію повернення історичних масштабів, за стимулювання політичної перебудови, що відбувається один раз у поколінні, за зміну американського президентства та зміни ролі Америки у світі», — пояснив Сем Джейкобс.

У 2016 року Time вже оголошував Дональда Трампа «людиною року» після його перемоги на президентських виборах. Раніше це визнання отримували 13 інших президентів США, включно з Джо Байденом.

Нагадаємо, звання «Людина року» отримує особа, яка мала значний вплив на події року. На думку редакторів журналу, це не винагорода, а лише відзначення позитивного чи негативного впливу особистостей на історію людства.
