На сайті американської телевізійної нагороди «Еммі» оголосили ім’я першого лауреата. Ним став 44-ий президент США Барак Обама, якого відзначили за озвучування документального серіалу «Наші великі національні парки».

 

П’ятисерійний документальний проєкт оповідає про знакові національні парки в усьому світі, від США до Індонезії. Серіал створила продюсерська компанія Higher Ground Productions, яку заснував Обама. Проєкт номіновано також як найкращу документальну програму.

Претендентами на «Еммі» у номінації «Найкращий оповідач» цього року також були актори Люпіта Ніонго та Волтер Камау Белл, телеведучий Девід Аттенборо, ексбаскетболіст Карім Абдул-Джаббар.

У 2016 році 44-ий американський президент як герой стрічки «Девід Аттенборо зустрічається з Бараком Обамою» уже змагався за «Еммі» в номінації «Найкращий новинний документальний фільм». 

Крім цього, Обама – володар двох премій Grammy за озвучування аудіокниг власних мемуарів.

Першим в історії президентом США, який здобув «Еммі», став Дуайт Ейзенхауер. У 1956-му він отримав спеціальну нагороду за знакову телевізійну пресконференцію 1955 року.

Цьогорічна церемонія нагородження лауреатів «Еммі» відбудеться 12 вересня в Лос-Анджелесі.
