 Посада передбачає висвітлення подій із життя британської королівської родини. Кількість претендентів вже зменшилась до двох. У конкурсі переможе або Марк Істон, головний редактор BBC News, або кореспондентка Даніела Релф,  повідомляє  Deadline

На боці Істона досвід роботи редактором із 2004 року і «зухваліший» підхід до королівських матеріалів BBC, адже компанію критикують за обережність у висвітленні королівської сім’ї.

Серед переваг Релф десять років роботи королівською кореспонденткою. Колеги Даніели також акцентують , що було б добре, щоб BBC News призначила на посаду жінку.

BBC News не рекламувала вакансію зовні, щоб дати шанс своїм журналістам, яким загрожує скорочення.

 Новий королівський редактор BBC News займе цю посаду в критичний для британської монархії час, пише Deadline. BBC доведеться висвітлювати багато ключових національних моментів, повʼязаних із монаршою родиною.
