 Ідея залучення користувачів до боротьби з дезінформацією на платформах соціальних мереж останніми роками здобула популярність. Система Community Notes, яка розпочала свій шлях на X (колишньому Twitter), а тепер запроваджується Meta на Facebook, Instagram та Threads, дозволяє користувачам додавати контекст до постів. Алгоритм публікує такі нотатки лише тоді, коли досягається консенсус між користувачами.

 Хоча цей підхід вважається швидшим і більш прозорим, ніж традиційна перевірка фактів, аналітика Bloomberg показує: Community Notes здатна спрацювати лише в обмежених випадках. Значна частина нотаток так і не публікується через відсутність згоди серед користувачів. Навіть ті, що публікуються, часто видаляються згодом, особливо щодо чутливих тем, як-от війна в Україні чи заяви державних діячів.

 Ефективність системи падає у випадках, коли поширення дезінформації вже досягло свого піку.
