Google объявил о запуске нового сервиса News Lab, предназначенного для журналистов.

«Наша миссия – сотрудничать с журналистами и предпринимателями, чтобы помочь построить будущее СМИ», - комментирует запуск директор Google News Lab Стив Гроув (Steve Grove).

Новый сервис будет включать рекомендации и видеоинструкции на тему того, как издания могут извлечь максимальную пользу из ресурсов Google, включая Карты, YouTube, Fusion Tables и Earth to Search, начиная от поиска нужной информации и заканчивая обратной связью от пользователей,пишет Searchengines.ru

Google также сотрудничает с двумя организациями, работающими с медиастартапами, – Matter and Hacks/Hackers – с целью предоставления финансовой поддержки, а также консультаций и наставничества со стороны инженеров Google.

Представитель компании отметил, что цель нового проекта – разработка программ, сфокусированных на «создании образа будущего новостей и информации, а также расширении возможностей новых голосов в СМИ».

Google также запускает программу TechRaking – серию саммитов, на которых компания и Центр журналистских расследований будут совместно работать над разработкой новых методик проведения расследования.

Стив Гроув подчеркнул, что News Lab – глобальная инициатива. В настоящее время, в её рамках работают команды из США, Великобритании, Франции и Германии.

Напомним, что в последнее время Google внедрил ряд инициатив, призванных помочь журналистам и издателям новостей.

На прошлой неделе компания запустила три новых проекта для журналистов: YouTube Newswire, the First Draft Coalition и Witness Media Labs. 

Google также обновил инструмент Google Trends. Теперь он имеет новую главную страницу, предоставляет данные в режиме реального времени, а также отслеживает YouTube и Новости Google для определения трендовых тем.

Кроме того, по данным SearchMetrics, новостные сайты и онлайн-издания выиграли от последнего апдейта поискового алгоритма Google.
