Британське видання The Guardian заявило, що більше не публікуватиме дописи на X через «тривожний вміст» на платформі соціальних мереж, зокрема расизм і теорії змови. Про це йдеться на сайті видання.

«Ми вважаємо, що переваги перебування на X тепер поступаються недолікам, і що ресурси редакції можуть бути краще використані для просування нашої журналістики деінде», — йдеться в заяві редакція.

У The Guardian вважають, що передвиборча кампанія президента США лише підтвердила думку про те, що X є токсичною медіаплатформою, а її власник Ілон Маск «зміг скористатися впливовістю соцмережі для формування політичного дискурсу».

Видання зауважило, що користувачі X все ще зможуть поширювати його матеріали в соцмережі, а самі журналісти час від часу використовуватимуть контент з Х у своїх матеріалах та послуговуватимуться соцмережею для збору новин.

У відповідь на рішення The Guardian Маск написав: «Вони не мають значення».

Газета The Guardian має 10,7 мільйона підписників на X. Вона стає першою великою британською медіакомпанією, яка відмовилася від платформи. 

Минулого місяця британська поліція припинила публікувати повідомлення в соцмережі. Окрім цього, про аналогічне рішення раніше заявили деякі британські благодійні організації.
