Telegram  може потрапити під дію суворих норм щодо модерації контенту згідно з новим Законом про цифрові послуги (DSA). Якщо Telegram має понад 45 мільйонів активних користувачів на місяць, це вимагатиме додаткового контролю за контентом на платформі.

 Дані компанії Similarweb свідчать, що тільки в семи країнах ЄС у Telegram в середньому 50,7 мільйонів активних користувачів на Android. Однак ЄС планує розділити користувачів месенджера від тих, хто використовує групи та канали, адже лише соціальні функції платформи підпадають під дію DSA.

 Telegram заперечує ці цифри, стверджуючи, що його соціальна база не досягає порогу в 45 мільйонів користувачів. Але якщо компанія надасть недостовірні дані, ЄС може самостійно встановити цей показник.

 Арешт засновника Telegram Павла Дурова у Франції за звинуваченнями в поширенні незаконного контенту лише посилив прагнення ЄС до посилення нагляду за платформою, оскільки месенджер часто використовується для дезінформації та злочинної діяльності.

 Єврокомісія продовжує збирати дані від зовнішніх джерел, таких як Similarweb і Semrush, щоб зробити остаточні висновки про кількість користувачів та відповідність Telegram правилам ЄС.
