14 листопада Європейська комісія оштрафувала компанію Meta на 797,72 млн євро за зловживання на користь Facebook Marketplace. Про це пише Reuters.

«Європейська комісія оштрафувала компанію Meta… за порушення антимонопольних правил ЄС, пов’язавши свій сервіс онлайн-реклами Facebook Marketplace зі своєю особистою соціальною мережею Facebook і нав’язавши несправедливі умови торгівлі іншим постачальникам послуг онлайн-реклами», — заявили у відомстві.

Meta повідомила, що оскаржить це рішення. За словами компанії, Єврокомісія стверджувала, що Marketplace потенційно може перешкоджати розвитку великих онлайн-ринків у ЄС, але не знайшла жодних доказів шкоди конкурентам.

Єврокомісія ухвалила таке рішення через два роки після того, як вона звинуватила американського техногіганта в тому, що він надав своїй службі оголошень Facebook Marketplace несправедливу перевагу, об’єднавши дві служби разом.

Європейський Союз відкрив офіційне провадження щодо можливої ​​антиконкурентної поведінки Facebook у червні 2021 року, а в грудні 2022 року висловив занепокоєння, що Meta пов’язує свою домінуючу соціальну мережу Facebook зі своїми сервісами онлайн-реклами.

За порушення антимонопольного законодавства ЄС компаніям загрожує штраф у розмірі до 10% їхнього світового обороту.
