Понад 140 кенійських модераторів Facebook отримали важкий ПТСР через контент із вбивствами й тероризмом. Про це повідомляє The Guardian — видання отримало доступ до медичних звітів.

 Модератори працювали по 8-10 годин дня на підприємстві в Кенії. Майже в усіх виявили ПТСР, генералізований тривожний розлад, великий депресивний розлад, спричинений постійною роботою з чутливим контентом. Зображення та відео, включаючи некрофілію, зоофілію та самоушкодження, змусили деяких модераторів знепритомніти, блювати, кричати та тікати зі своїх робочих місць.

 Частина модераторів внаслідок цього зловживали алкоголем, наркотиками, а також снодійним. Дехто повідомив про розпад шлюбу, небажання сексуальної близькості, а також про втрату зв'язку з сім'єю.

 Модератори з Кенії та інших африканських країн з 2019 до 2023 року повинні були перевіряти повідомлення, які надходять з Африки та які написані їхніми рідними мовами. Однак їм платили у вісім разів менше, ніж їхнім колегам у США.
