Водночас дописи з критикою американської політики та тегом «У США дефіцит яєць» стали найпопулярнішими в мережі. А державний мовник Китаю CCTV також запустив свій власний хештег #UShastradewarandaneggshortage (торгова війна США та дефіцит яєць). Такі дії держави заохочують поширення в мережі глузливих коментарів на адресу Штатів. 

Китай контролює інтернет за допомогою системи, відомої як «Великий китайський фаєрвол». Вона дає змогу цензурувати той контент, що може завдати шкоди державній політиці. Оскільки іноземні соціальні мережі в Китаї заблоковані, «Великий китайський фаєрвол» створює повністю контрольоване медіасередовище. 

Нагадаємо, американський президент Трамп визнав, що саме запровадження нових тарифів призупинило угоду з Китаєм щодо продажу TikTok, кінцевий термін якої був 5 квітня, проте її перенесли ще на 75 днів.
