Компанія Джеффа Безоса Amazon готується запустити першу партію свого супутникового угруповання Project Kuiper. Місія під назвою KA-01 стартуватиме 9 квітня на ракеті Atlas V компанії United Launch Alliance (ULA).

Місія виведе на орбіту перші 27 апаратів із понад 3200 запланованих. Надання послуг супутникового інтернету компанія планує розпочати до кінця 2025 року.

Представники Amazon заявили, що корисне навантаження майбутньої місії KA-01 стане найважчим із коли-небудь запущених на Atlas V, – пише Тhealphacentauri, – для старту носій буде використовувати найпотужнішу модифікацію з п’ятьма твердопаливними прискорювачами

Першу половину угруповання Amazon має вивести до липня 2026 року, а іншу – до липня 2029. Апарати працюватимуть на висоті приблизно в 630 кілометрів з періодом обертання навколо Землі в півтори години.
