В общей сложности 22 издателя заметили падение их десктопного трафика из Facebook по крайней мере на 50%. Во втором квартале этого года трафик New York Times упал на 25%, Washington Post на 26% и CNN на 33%. Как сообщает The Drum, трафик Buzzfeed снизился на 6%, а Huffington Post – на 21%.
Уменьшение компьютерного трафика американских новостных сайтов может быть результатом недавнего обновления алгоритма Facebook, из-за которого новости друзей и членов семьи находятся выше, чем объявления рекламодателей. И хотя при анонсировании нового алгоритма Facebook отметил, что перемены могут привести к понижению трафика некоторых издателей, компания не объявляла об изменениях до конца июня, так как они не должны были сильно повлиять на итоги второго квартала.
Поскольку 54,2% пользователей Facebook теперь заходят в социальную сеть исключительно с мобильных устройств, падение десктопного трафика может быть обусловлено популярностью использования Facebook со смартфонов
