17 березня міністр закордонних справ Чехії Ян Ліпавський на зустрічі європейських глав МЗС запропонував розглянути різні шляхи підтримки «Радіо Свобода», зокрема і його придбання.

Про це він сказав у коментарі «Європейській правді».

Ян Ліпавський повідомив, що на засіданні Ради ЄС із закордонних справ він порушив питання щодо ситуації з «Радіо Свобода», аби побачити, «чи бачать наші партнери цінність у продовженні» його роботи.

«Ми, безумовно, бачимо – і якщо ми бачимо в ньому цінність, то є сенс розглянути шляхи забезпечення його майбутнього, зокрема можливість його купівлі», – розповів чеський міністр.

16 березня стало відомо, що міністр закордонних справ Чехії Ян Ліпавський планує обговорити з колегами з країн Європейського Союзу можливе продовження роботи «Радіо Свобода».

Ліпавський зазначав, що мовлення «Радіо Свободи» є підтримкою демократичних сил у країнах Східної Європи та Азії. Натомість замовчування «Радіо Свобода» та «Голосу Америки» буде втратою не лише для людей, які живуть у стані несвободи, але й для всіх, хто вірить у демократію.

Зазначимо, що Українська служба «Радіо Свобода» продовжує працювати. За даними джерел «Детектора медіа», грошей може вистачити для роботи і виплат зарплат лише до кінця березня.

Проте Українська служба «Голосу Америки» припиняє співпрацю з працівниками, які працювали за персональними контрактами.

Нагадаємо, що президент США Дональд Трамп 14 березня підписав указ щодо скорочення функцій та кількості співробітників семи федеральних агентств, зокрема Агентства США з глобальних медіа (USAGM), яке керує «Радіо Свобода» та «Голосом Америки».
