Газета The Moscow Times, выходящая в России на английском языке, объявила о закрытии печатной версии. Об этом говорится в сообщении, опубликованном на сайте издания.

Последний печатный номер выйдет в июле. В публикации указано, что в начале июня основатель газеты Дерк Сауэр (Derk Sauer) сообщил о том, что вернулся в состав владельцев The Moscow Times в качестве соучредителя. Вместе с представителем владельца издания Демьяном Кудрявцевым они намерены создать некоммерческую организацию в Европе для того, чтобы обеспечить ее правами на выпуск издания.

В сообщении также значится, что большинство нынешних сотрудников потеряют работу. Главный редактор газеты Михаил Фишман рассказал «Ведомостям», что он вместе с командой дорабатывает последние «пару дней».

Газета The Moscow Times основана в 1992 году. В 2015 году семья Кудрявцева приобрела издание вместе с другими активами компании Independent Media («Ведомости», Men’s Health, Women’s Health, National Geographic). В 2012-2015 годах Сауэр занимал пост президента РБК, однако покинул из-за требований отстранить иностранца (Сауэр — гражданин Нидерландов — прим. «Ленты.ру») от управления холдингом.
