Національна спілка журналістів Британії ( NUJ) вважає, що це «ще більше послабить висвітлення місцевих новин».

У  записці для співробітників BBC Уельсу, Шотландії та Північної Ірландії обіцяно, що керівництво прагне «заощадити, не закриваючи жодних основних служб»та здійснити «розумну, цілеспрямовану економію.

 Команди новин по всій Англії вже зазнали «нищівних» скорочень, повідомляє NUJ: у 2020 році було закрито 450 робочих місць на телебаченні, радіо та в онлайн.

 Генеральний секретар NUJ Мішель Станістріт сказала: «Ці останні скорочення в регіонах, що виникли на тлі болісної ліквідації BBC Local, ще більше випорожнять місцеві новини в той час, коли ресурси вичерпані до крайньої межі».
