Загинув кінооператор Олесь Самчук у віці 22 роки. Він закінчив інститут Тараса Шевченка минулого року за спеціальністю "Кіно та кінооператорство" і служив в аеророзвідці під позивним "Каркаде", – йдеться у повідомленні Держкіно.

Володимир Галицький, відомий кінооператор і доцент кафедри кіно-, телемистецтва Інституту журналістики Київського національного університету імені Шевченка, написав у своєму фейсбуці: "Сумно та боляче... У бою загинув мій випускник, кінооператор, воїн Олесь Самчук. Світла пам'ять герою!"

Відомо, що трагедія сталася 11 березня. Олесь Самчук загинув внаслідок ворожого обстрілу КАБами під час виконання бойового завдання  на Донецькому напрямку, 

За тиждень чоловік мав би ротацію.

У Національній спілці кінематографістів України сповістили, що в Олеся Самчука було заплановане на 19 березня весілля.

Олесь – автор фільмів «Архітектон» (2021 р.) та Life goes on (2023 р).
