 Новий закон Куби, який набув чинності 4 жовтня, приніс нову хвилю репресії проти незалежних журналістів на острові. Пише LatAm Journalism Review.

Журналісти, які працюють не на офіційних медіа, отримують погрози, їх викликають на допити та звинувачують у тому, що вони є найманцями.

Генеральний директор Кубинського інституту свободи вираження поглядів та преси Нормандо Ернандес, назвав таку практику державним тероризмом.

Закон про соціальну комунікацію визнає лише ЗМІ, пов'язані з Кубинською комуністичною партією, залишаючи осторонь незалежні платформи.

З середини вересня близько тридцяти журналістів та співробітників незалежної преси на Кубі викликалися  як свідки та отримали  погрози бути  звинуваченими у найманстві. Це злочин, який передбачає до десяти років ув'язнення.
