У День Державного Прапора України у Києві підняли найбільший стяг в Україні. Прапор піднімали ветерани АТО та ООС.

Церемонія підняття прапора відбулася за участю Київського міського голови Віталія Кличка і загальновійськового взводу роти Почесної варти.

День Державного Прапора у столиці вперше проходить на території Меморіального комплексу «Національний музей історії України у Другій світовій війні». Тут торік відкрили меморіал із найбільшим прапором.

“Рік тому, тут, на печерських пагорбах ми підняли найбільший і найвищий прапор України, який видно з багатьох куточків нашого міста. Багато часу і багато зусиль нам було потрібно, щоб втілити цей проєкт, щоб над столицею України майорів наш Державний Прапор – один із найголовніших символів державності. І сьогодні цим прапором можуть милуватися і вдень і вночі і кияни і гості нашого міста”, – сказав мер столиці Віталій  Кличко.

Сам флагшток нині є найбільшим в Україні. Його висота – близько 90 метрів, вага – 32 тонни. Розмір полотнища прапора – 16 на 24 метри.

На площі Конституції перед будівлею Верховної Ради також відбулася урочиста церемонія підняття Державного прапора України з нагоди Дня Державного прапора та Дня Незалежності.
