Засновник Telegram назвав у своєму каналі звинувачення проти нього "помилковими" і заявив , що правильно було би розпочати правові дії проти самого сервісу, а не звинувачувати керівника у злочинах третіх осіб на платформі.
Дуров написав, що складно досягти правильного балансу між конфіденційністю та безпекою і нагадав, як Telegram відмовився надавати ключі шифрування ФСБ Росії у 2018 році, що призвело до спроб заблокувати месенджер у Росії, а також відмову Telegram блокувати канали мирних протестувальників в Ірані.
Дуров визнав, що зростання кількості користувачів до 950 мільйонів призвело до нових викликів, які полегшили зловживання платформою.
"Сподіваюся, що події серпня призведуть до того, що Telegram та індустрія соціальних мереж загалом стануть більш безпечними та сильнішими",— заявив Дуров.
