26 октября, спустя неделю после появления фейка с придуманной цитатой президента Польши о готовности вернуть земли Западной Украины, один из самых уважаемых журналов Польши Newsweek опубликовал статью об этой выдуманной новости. Автор материала ошибочно приписала создание этого фейка украинским СМИ, сообщает Stopfake.org

В статье было сказано: «I choć przytaczane słowa z ust prezydenta Dudy nigdy nie padły, a w polskiej telewizji nigdy nie ukazał się przytaczany materiał, to spreparowany news zaczął w ubiegłym tygodniu żyć własnym życiem i błyskawicznie rozszedł się po ukraińskich mediach. Zacytował go choćby poważny serwis unian.net.”

Перевод: «И хотя эти слова никогда из уст президента Дуды не звучали, а на польском телевидении этот материал никогда не показывался, эта новость на прошлой неделе жила своей жизнью и моментально разошлась по украинским СМИ. Процитировал ее, хотя бы, уважаемый ресурс УНИАН.net”.

StopFake уже разоблачал этой фейк и сообщал, что агентство УНИАН не было источником этой информации. Польский сайт, процитировавший якобы связанное с украинским МИД агентство, не является достоверным источником. Кроме того, этот фейк не распространялся в украинских СМИ.

После письменного обращения автор статьи в Newsweek извинилась, а само издание внесло изменения в текст материала и опубликовало опровержение.
