Гаррі та ще шестеро позивачів, серед яких співак Елтон Джон і акторки Елізабет Герлі та Седі Фрост, звинувачують 70 нинішніх і колишніх співробітників Associated Newspapers у зломі телефону та інших серйозних порушеннях конфіденційності 30 років тому.

Компанія Associated Newspapers, яка видає Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Metro, MailOnline і Metro.co.uk, завжди заперечувала свою причетність до незаконних дій. Ту ж позицію висловили її адвокати в матеріалах для попереднього слухання.

Спроба видавця відхилити позови була відхилена минулого року, що відкрило шлях для судового розгляду, який, за словами позивачів і Associated Newspapers, має розпочатися на початку 2026 року.

Зазначимо, що позови принца Гаррі та інших позивачів, також спричинили тривалий судовий процес проти британського газетного підрозділу Руперта Мердока, News Group Newspapers, і видавця Daily Mirror, Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN).

У грудні 2023 року Високий суд Лондона визнав, що принц Гаррі постраждав через прослуховування та інші незаконні методи збору даних журналістами. Гаррі стверджував, що видавець таблоїдів Mirror Group Newspapers переслідував його впродовж 15 років від 1996-го. Принц отримав близько 178 000 доларів США компенсації
