Картину Вінсента Ван Гога «Голова селянки в білому чіпці» продали за €4,5 мільйона на ярмарку мистецтва Tefaf у Маастріхті. Цю картину Ван Гог написав у 1884 році.Про це повідомило нідерландське видання L1 Nieuws.

На продаж картину виставила американська галерея M. S. Rau, що розташована в Новому Орлеані. Імʼя покупця не називають, проте кажуть, що в нього приватний музей за межами Європи. При цьому музей відкритий для відвідування, тобто шанувальники ще зможуть побачити картину митця на власні очі.

Цей портрет літньої жінки Ван Гог написав у 1884 році, коли жив у нідерландському місті Нуенен. Картина виконана олійною фарбою на полотні розміром 63 на 48 см.

Художник написав декілька картин, що зображують селянок у білих чіпцях. На зворотному боці однієї з них у 2022 році за допомогою рентгена знайшли автопортрет Ван Гога.

Аукціонний рекорд за роботи Ван Гога встановили в 1990 році. Тоді «Портрет доктора Гаше» продали за $83 мільйони. Протягом 15 років це була найдорожча картина у світі. А в 2021 році картина Ван Гога «Пшеничні стоги» пішла з молотка майже за $36 мільйонівАкварель Ван Гога продали на аукціоні за рекордні $35,9 мільйона.
