Організація з популяризації української культури Ukraine WOW представила відео, у якому американські актори Роберт Де Ніро, Лієв Шрайбер, Міша Коллінз і новоспечений лауреат BAFTA 2025 актор Олександр Рудинський згадують українців, які вписали свої імена в історію найпрестижнішої кінонагороди.

 

У ньому згадали:

  • композитора Дмитра Тьомкіна родом з Кременчука, який отримав чотири премії «Оскар» у 1950-х роках за музику до фільмів «Рівно опівдні», «Високий та могутній» і «Старий та море»; 
  • Варвару Каринську, харків’янку, що у 1949 році отримала перший «Оскар» за найкращий дизайн костюмів для фільму «Жанна д’Арк»; 
  • Євгена Мамута, фахівця зі спецефектів та анімації, у 1987 році разом з американськими колегами отримав «Оскар» за візуальні ефекти для фільму «Хижак»; 
  • Джека Пеланса, при народженні — Володимир Палагнюк, отримав «Оскар» за найкращу чоловічу роль другого плану у фільмі «Міські піжони»;
  • Анатолія Кокуша. У 2006 році український інженер отримав дві премії «Оскар» за науково-технічні досягнення — винайдення операторських кранів «Каскад» і «Авторобот». Завдяки їм були зняті такі культові фільми, як «Титанік», «Люди Ікс», «Бетмен», «Гаррі Поттер».
