Російська влада намагається змусити американську компанію Google припинити роботу в країні, продовжуючи виписувати їй штрафи. Про це йдеться у звіті Інституту вивчення війни (ISW).
Зазначається, що 4 листопада Мировий суд Москви оштрафував компанію Google на 15 мільйонів рублів (приблизно $165 745) за неодноразове непроведення локалізації персональних даних російських громадян у РФ.
Російський державний регулятор Роскомнагляд вимагає від іноземних інтернет-сервісів локалізувати бази даних російських користувачів з 1 липня 2021 року, а у червні 2022 року російські суди оштрафували Google на 15 мільйонів рублів за недотримання цього закону.
Раніше російський уряд вже заборонив певні західні соціальні мережі та вимагав від Google видалити "неправдиву інформацію" про російську війну в Україні на початку 2022 року.
Як наголосили в Інституті, Росія, ймовірно, прагне змусити своїх громадян використовувати пошукові системи та інші інтернет-сервіси російських компаній, які уряд може контролювати краще, ніж міжнародні компанії, такі як Google.
