7 жовтня проводиться Всесвітній день бавовни. З цим святом українців привітала СБУ.

“СБУ запевняє: сезон цвітіння найулюбленішої квітки українців не закінчиться до нашої повної Перемоги”, – йдеться у вітанні.

Ініціатива Всесвітнього дня бавовни (World Cotton Day) народилася у 2019 році, коли чотири виробники бавовни в країнах Африки на південь від Сахари — Бенін, Буркіна-Фасо, Чад та Малі, відомі як «Бавовняна четвірка», — запропонували Світовій організації торгівлі відсвяткувати Всесвітній день бавовни 7 жовтня.

Втім українська “бавовна” ніякого відношення до сирця, з якого виробляють найпоширеніші тканини, немає.

Мовою агресора вибух – це “хлопок” (наголос на першому складі), що співзвучно з українською назвою тканини рослинного походження – “бавовна”. Тепер у соцмережах усі звуки та дим від вибухів на російських об’єктах називають “бавовна”.
