Губернатор Монтани підписав закон про заборону діяльності китайської компанії TikTok на території штату, щоб захистити жителів від ймовірного збору розвідувальних даних з боку Китаю, ставши першим штатом США, який заборонив популярний застосунок.

Монтана заборонить Google Store і App Store пропонувати TikTok до завантаження, але не накладатиме жодних санкцій на осіб, які користуються цим застосунком. Заборона набуде чинності 1 січня 2024 року і майже напевно зіткнеться з юридичними проблемами.

TikTok, що належить китайській технологічній компанії ByteDance, не відповів на запитання Reuters, чи планує він подавати позов до суду.
