Выборы в Народное собрание (парламент) Египта пройдут в два этапа в октябре-ноябре текущего года, сообщил в воскресенье египетской газете "Аль-Ахрам" источник в Верховной избирательной комиссии, передает РИА Новости .

По данным источника, регистрация в депутаты начнется с сентября

Верховная избирательная комиссия Египта уже начала уточнение списков избирателей как в стране, так и за ее пределами.

Правом голоса в Египте обладают все граждане, достигшие 18-летнего возраста и получившие регистрационный номер, удостоверяющий личность, за исключением тех, кого, по тем или иным причинам, лишили политических прав.

Египет с 2012 года живет без парламента. Временно законодательные функции выполняет правительство и глава государства.

Выборы в парламент Египта должны были пройти еще весной 2015, но их отложили из-за несоответствия закона о выборах конституции Египта. В начале августа в закон были внесены изменения, которые должны позволить главе государства Абдель Фаттаху ас-Сиси назначить дату волеизъявления.

После отстранения от власти египетского президента-исламиста Мухаммеда Мурси в 2013 году, власти объявили о "дорожной карте" переходного периода, которая предусматривает принятие новой конституции, проведение парламентских и президентских выборов. Конституция была принята в январе 2014, президентские выборы прошли в мае того же года.
