Власника відеоплатформи «Тікток» — ByteDance — можуть оштрафувати на суму понад 500 мільйонів євро за незаконну передачу даних європейських користувачів до Китаю. Попередньо Комісія із захисту даних Ірландії планує присудити штраф до кінця квітня. Про це пише Bloomberg з посиланням на ознайомлені із ситуацією джерела.

Тривале розслідування виявило, що китайський бізнес порушив Загальний регламент Європейського Союзу щодо захисту даних (GDPR), надсилаючи до Китаю інформацію, доступ до якої отримали інженери.

Це покарання, імовірно, стане третім найбільшим штрафом в історії GDPR після попередніх стягнень у розмірі 1,2 мільярда євро з Meta і 746 мільйонів євро з Amazon. За словами співрозмовників Bloomberg, точний розмір штрафу для TikTok і час ухвалення рішення не остаточні й можуть змінитися. TikTok може оскаржити це рішення в ірландських судах.

Ірландське розслідування щодо відеоплатформи почалося ще у 2021 році, коли тодішня керівниця регулятора Хелен Діксон заявила, що «інженери з обслуговування та ШІ в Китаї» можуть отримати доступ до даних користувачів з ЄС.

У вересні 2023 року комісія оштрафувала TikTok на 345 мільйонів євро за ймовірні порушення в роботі з особистими даними дітей.
