 Демонстрація відбулася після повідомлення про те, що екстремісти нещодавно зустрічалися, щоб обговорити депортацію мільйонів іммігрантів, в тому числі німецьких громадян, якщо вони прийдуть до влади. 

 Серед демонстрантів були канцлер Шольц і голова МЗС Бербок.

Напередодні видання Correctiv повідомило про ймовірну зустріч ультраправих у листопаді, на якій, за його словами, були присутні представники екстремістського Ідентифікаційного руху та ультраправої партії Альтернатива для Німеччини (AfD).

AfD намагається дистанціюватися від цієї зустрічі, заявляючи, що не має жодних організаційних чи фінансових зв'язків з цим заходом, що члени партії, які, вочевидь, були присутні на ній, робили це в суто особистій якості, і що партія не несе відповідальності за те, що там обговорювалося.

Повідомлення про зустріч викликало заклики розглянути можливість заборонити AfD, яка з моменту свого заснування у 2013 році неухильно рухається вправо.

Багато її опонентів виступили проти цієї ідеї, стверджуючи, що процес буде тривалим, успіх дуже сумнівний і що це може бути вигідним для партії, оскільки дозволить їй зобразити себе жертвою.
