Президент США Дональд Трамп у можливості посилення допомоги Україні припускає, що вона могла б передбачати санкції. Також він прокоментував сварку з українським лідером Володимиром Зеленським в Овальному кабінеті

Про це він розповів в інтервʼю The Atlantic.

На запитання журналіста, чи бачить Трамп ситуацію, що Штати нададуть Україні більше зброї для збереження територіальної цілісності, він відповів:

"Це не обов'язково має бути зброя. Існує багато видів зброї. Це не обов'язково має бути зброя з кулями. Це може бути зброя з санкціями. Це може бути зброя з банківською діяльністю. Це може бути багато інших видів зброї".

Також у глави Білого дому поцікавилися, чи є щось, що російський диктатор Володимир Путін міг зробити, аби Трамп сказав "знаєте що - тепер я на боці Зеленського"?

"Не обов'язково на боці Зеленського, але на боці України, так... Мені було важко з Зеленським. Ви бачили це тут, коли він сидів прямо в тому кріслі", - сказав президент США, говорячи про зустріч в Овальному кабінеті 28 лютого.

За словами Трампа, все, що потрібно було робити Зеленському тоді, "це мовчати".

"Але замість того, щоб сказати "гаразд", коли я робив заяву, я казав: "Ну, ми працюємо над тим, щоб це вирішити. Ми намагаємося допомогти". Він (Зеленський, - ред.) відповів: "Ні, ні, нам також потрібна безпека", - додав американський лідер.

Також глава Білого дому повторив, що війна РФ проти України є війною експрезидента США Джо Байдена. За його словами, Вашингтон надав підтримку Києву в розмірі $350 млрд, коли Європа "допомогла набагато менше".

"Подивимося, що станеться протягом наступного тижня. Залишилися останні штрихи. І знову ж таки, це війна Байдена. Я не збираюся нести цей тягар - я не хочу бути асоційованим із нею. Це жахлива війна. Її не повинно було бути", - заявив Трамп.
