Сегодня конгрессмен, член палаты представителей от штата Джорджия Джон Льюис заявил, что он не верит, что Трамп является законно избранным президентом США, из-за чего не намерен присутствовать на его инаугурации. Как сообщалось ранее, всего за неделю до приведения к присяге нового президента США, американские разведывательные службы заявили, что Россия оказала огромное влияние на результаты выборов в США и что российские хакеры собрали крупный компромат на Трампа.

Льюис заявил, что он стал подозревать, что Трамп не является легитимным президентом США с момента обнародования доклада спецслужб, однако полностью укрепился в уверенности в этом после первой пресс-конференции Трампа. Также о своем отказе присутствовать на инаугурации президента США по той же причине, что и Льюис, заявили еще 19 членов конгресса, в том числе Репс Луис Гутьеррес из Иллинойса, Джаред Хаффман и Барбара Ли из Калифорнии, Кэтрин Кларк из штата Массачусетс, а также Рауля Грихальва из штата Аризона.
