З 1 травня китайські інтернет-компанії (наприклад, гіганти соцмереж Tencent, ByteDance і Weibo) зобов'язані відстежувати контент користувачів, які публікують «чутливу інформацію», видаляти її посади і передавати дані про те, що сталося владі. Правила регламентують те, що вважається «чутливою інформацією», наприклад, повідомлення про рішення держорганів. Чиновники пояснили нововведення тим, що вони необхідні, оскільки «охорона державних секретів стикається з новими проблемами та викликами у нову епоху».
