 У США посилюється цензура і заборона книг, справа дійшла до державних шкільних підручників. Про це пише Guardian.

Шкільний округ у Г’юстоні проголосував за редагування розділів про вакцини та зміну клімату. Це викликало стурбованість у батьків і вчителів.

Пропозицію про видалення глав було зроблено віце-президенткою правління Наталі Блейзінгейм і підтримано майже одноголосно.

Вона не пояснила це рішення, але сказала, що предмети виходять за рамки того, що вимагає викладати держава, і створює «уявлення про те, що люди погані». 

 Американський PEN виявив 3362 випадки заборони окремих книжок у державних школах протягом 2022-23 року – це на 33% більше, ніж минулого року, причому більшість у Флориді та Техасі. Ці книги здебільшого включають романи з темами раси чи сексуальності, а не навчальний матеріал.

 Заборона книг стала основним елементом фінансування ультраправими політиками, які намагаються отримати більшу присутність у шкільних радах по всьому США.
