У Таїланді 27-річного активіста засудили до 28 років ув’язнення за критику монархії у Facebook. 

Суд провінції Чіанграй визнав, що Монкхон Тіракот порушив закон про образу величності в 14 з 27 інтернет-дописах. Закон поширюється на чинного короля, королеву та спадкоємців, а також будь-якого регента.

Активіста заарештували в серпні 2022 року. Його визнали винним і засудили до трьох років вʼязниці за кожен із 14 дописів у Facebook. Оскільки Монкхон співпрацює із судом, загальний 42-річний термін ув’язнення скоротили на третину — до 28 років.

Наразі активіста звільнили під заставу, поки його справу розглядають в апеляції. Монкхон зобовʼязаний не шкодити монархії та не покидати країну.
