У Великій Британії знову дозволили продавати вино у пінтах. Пляшки обʼємом 568 мл зʼявляться на полицях супермаркетів, а також у пабах, клубах і ресторанах — це стало можливим після виходу Великої Британії зі складу ЄС. Про це повідомив британський уряд.
У 2024 році винороби Великої Британії зможуть продавати свою продукцію в пляшках обʼємом 200, 500 та 568 мл. При цьому для бізнесу не буде юридичного зобовʼязання продавати вино у пінтах.
Пляшки вина обʼємом у пінту продавались у Великій Британії до її приєднання до Спільного ринку Європейського Союзу у 1973 році. Їх, як вважають, також полюбляв один із найвідоміших британських премʼєр-міністрів Вінстон Черчилль.
Повернення до пінт, а також до інших імперських мір стало одним із аргументів прихильників виходу Британії з Євросоюзу. Наразі тихе вино не можна продавати у пляшках обʼємом 200 мл, а ігристе — 500 мл. За законом, паби повинні продавати вино в малих (125 мл), середніх (175 мл) або великих (250 мл) склянках.
