У 6 областях країни було знайдено родовища урану, які мають дозволити країні вийти на показники видобутку у 10,5 тис. тонн до 2030 року. 

Якщо це буде реалізовано, тоді Узбекистан за обсягами видобутку обійде Австралію, Намібію, Канаду і закріпиться на другому місці відразу за Казахстаном. Заплановані 10,5 тис. тонн – це приблизно 20% світового видобутку урану.

Повільно, але неухильно йде процес видавлювання «Росатому» з глобальних ринків – перевести на атомне паливо з інших виробників можна навіть старі АЕС радянського зразка. Навіть Запорізька АЕС із 2008 року працювала на американських паливних збірках.

По-друге, 12 серпня у США набула чинності заборона на імпорт урану з росії – за Байдена стала відроджуватися власна галузь переробки та збагачення урану, занедбана 1993 року. 

Для Узбекистану зараз саме час нарощувати видобуток, але всі ці зусилля насамперед спрямовані на задоволення потреб Західних країн, що ще сильніше віддалить Узбекистан від росії. Загалом це твердження справедливе для всіх середньоазіатських країн, які мають хоч якісь запаси урану. 

Росія тим часом за останні 10 років скоротила видобуток урану на 20% і поки що зберігає вплив на глобальному ринку тому що має 40% світових потужностей зі збагачення урану. Але з розвитку власної переробки США ця частка падатиме.
