Російський дипломат незаконно встановив на ділянці модульний будинок, на якому є кілька камер відеоспостереження. Іноді чоловік виходить на вулицю покурити і забрати доставку їжі.

За ним уважно стежить федеральна поліція Австралії, але правоохоронці не можуть виселити росіянина, бо той має дипломатичний імунітет.

Росія вже має посольство в передмісті Канберри. Росіяни планували звести нову будівлю в Ярралумлі та перенести посольство туди. Для цього у 2008 році їм дали землю в оренду, а у 2011 році надали дозволи на виконання робіт і будівництво. За словами представників Управління національної столиці, росія обіцяла завершити будівництво за три роки, але не закінчила проєкт.
