По информации издания, это может создать проблемы при необходимости пересчета голосов — машины не создают бумажных копий результатов, а компании-изготовителя уже не существует.

Учитывая слова одного из кандидатов — республиканца Дональда Трампа — о том, что он может проиграть только в случае нечестного подсчета, ситуация становится особенно щекотливой, пишет The South China Morning Post. Эксперты, упомянутые в материале, отмечают, что самый неблагоприятный вариант развития событий наступит, если от исхода голосования в Пенсильвании будет зависеть общий итог выборов.

Председатель одного из окружных отделений отделений Республиканской партии в штате Майкл Корнс не видит причин для беспокойства. По его словам, машины действительно старые, но они вполне исправны и не подключены к интернету, поэтому их взлом невозможен.

Выборы президента США пройдут 8 ноября. Трампу будет противостоять демократ Хиллари Клинтон. По данным агрегатора предвыборных опросов RealClearPolitics на 25 октября, она опережает своего оппонента на 5,1 процентного пункта.
