У неділю, 11 серпня, на майдані Незалежності у Нововолинську презентували жовто блакитне полотнище в межах всеукраїнської акції «Нитка єднання». Його створюють з вʼязаних фрагментів розміром 20 на 20 сантиметрів. Про це йдеться на фейсбук-сторінці міськради.

Ідея акції належить жінкам-ВПО з громадської організації «Старт у нове життя» за підтримки благодійного фонду «Рокада. Волинь». Співорганізатором також виступила Нововолинська публічна бібліотека.

Голова ГО «Старт у нове життя» Анна Карамишева зазначила, що створення цього теплого прапора є не лише символом України, а й проявом єднання та підтримки спільної ідеї.

Нововолинці також зробили свій вклад у спільну роботу – принесли багато вʼязаних спицями та гачком жовтих та блакитних клаптиків, які на майдані Незалежності пришили до вже готового полотнища. На сьогодні теплий прапор має довжину близько 9 метрів та зшитий із майже 600 фрагментів. Його розгорнули на майдані перед памʼятником Тарасу Шевченку.
