Міжнародна федерація журналістів (МФЖ) відсторонила від членства союз журналістів росії (СЖР) після голосування глобального виконавчого комітету МФЖ. 

Таке рішення було прийняте з огляду на те, що російська спілка журналістів утворювала свої осередки на незаконно анексованих українських територіях.

Членство СЖР було призупинено, “з негайним набуттям чинності”, після того, як виконком Міжнародної федерації схвалив "тимчасове рішення про виключення", максимальну санкцію за те, що СЖР діяла "у спосіб, що суперечить принципам Федерації.

А саме, рішення було прийнято за підсумками розслідування щодо діяльності СЖР після вторгнення росії в Україну та утворення осередків СЖР на незаконно анексованих росією українських територіях.
