За три роки з початку повномасштабного вторгнення Росія вбила в Україні 97 медійників. Такими є дані Моніторингу російських злочинів проти журналістів та медіа, який здійснює Інститут масової інформації (ІМІ).

За цей час 12 журналістів були вбиті під час виконання журналістської діяльності, 72 загинули як учасники бойових дій, 13 – унаслідок російських обстрілів або катувань.

Загалом з початку російсько-української війни з 2014 року були вбиті 104 медійники, з них 15 – під час виконання журналістської діяльності. Серед них – 95 чоловіків і дев’ять жінок. Більшість загиблих – українські медійники, 10 – іноземці.

На третьому році повномасштабного вторгнення ІМІ зафіксував два випадки вбивств медійників під час їхньої професійної діяльності:

  • безпековий радник Reuters Раян Еванс загинув унаслідок російського обстрілу готелю в Краматорську 24 серпня 2024 року;
  • українська журналістка Вікторія Рощина загинула в російському полоні, про смерть стало відомо 10 жовтня 2024 року.
