Обраний президент США Дональд Трамп запропонував карати громадян США, які спалюють американський прапор.
 

Про це Трамп написав на своїй сторінці у мережі Twitter.

"Нікому не можна дозволяти спалювати американський прапор. Якщо хтось це зробить, то мають бути наслідки. Можливо, позбавлення громадянства або рік у в'язниці", - написав обраний президент.

У США не існує офіційної міри відповідальності за осквернення прапора, оскільки карати за це діяння забороняє перша поправка до конституції США. Республіканці наполягають на тому, щоб зробити відповідальність за осквернення державного прапора обов'язковою.
