Накануне Дня Независимости Украины остановки автобусов в израильском городе Ришон Ле-Цион украсили плакаты с видами городов Украины и поздравлением с праздником на иврите и на украинском языке.

Инициатором необычной акции стала организация "Israeli Friends of Ukraine" ( "Израильские Друзья Украины»), Israeli-Ukrainian Alliance (Израильско-Украинский Альянс) при поддержке канадской неправительственной организации «Украинский-Еврейская Встреча» (UJE)
На плакатах также размещена информация о выдающихся евреях — выходцев из городов-побратимов Ришон Ле-Циона — Харькова, Львова и Кременчуга, а также Киева, Днепра, Одессы, Черновцов.
Так, например, на постере Киева были указаны премьер-министр Израиля Голда Меир и президент Эфраим Кацир; на постере Днепра — поэтесса Зельда Мишковский-Шнеерсон, на постере Одессы — поэт Хаим Нахман Бялик и Зеев Жаботинский.
Постер с видом Харькова рассказывал о трех евреях этого города — Нобелевских лауреатах, о командире подводной лодки Израиле Фисановиче, поэте-сатирике Игоре Губермане и об израильском министре Зееве Элькине — уроженцев Харькова.
Постер с видом города Черновцы рассказывает о ивритском писателе Аароне Апельфельде, голливудской актрисе Миле Кунис и израильском дипломате Наоми Бен-Ами. Львовский постер — о ивритском поэте Ури Цви Гринберге.
Интересно отметить, что мэр Львова Андрей Садовой и мэр Днепра Борис Филатов мгновенно откликнулись на инициативу израильтян и сразу же прислали качественные фотографии с видами своих городов для публикации в Израиле.
