25 березня агентство транспорту та зв'язку Фінляндії заборонило авіаперевізнику виконувати рейси до країни через зв'язки з росією. 

ЄС також оголосив про рішення заборону, 28 березня, з посиланням на санкційний регламент 833/2014 від 31 липня 2014 року, який передбачає обмежувальні заходи у зв'язку з діями росії в Україні. 

Основна частка власності Southwind Airlines належить не турецьким, а російським структурам.

Southwind Airlines планувала польоти до Берліна, Дюсельдорфа, Франкфурта, Гамбурга, Мюнхена і Штутгарта в Німеччині, а також Іракліона в Греції. 

На даний момент продовжують виконувати рейси до росії та білорусії з Туреччини, але літаки облітають Чорне море і не заходять на територію ЄС.
