Рада ООН з прав людини 4 квітня підтримала резолюцію про захист прав інтерсексуальних людей. Про це повідомила пресслужба організації.

У Раді наголосили, що це перша ініціатива такого роду, а дипломати та правозахисні групи вважають її знаковою подією для прав людини.

За резолюцію, ініціаторами якої були Фінляндія, Південна Африка, Чилі й Австралія, проголосували 24 країни, 23 утрималися, жодна не голосувала проти.

Резолюція закликає держави боротися з дискримінацією, насильством і шкідливими практиками щодо інтерсексуальних людей, а також допомогти їм реалізувати право на найвищий досяжний рівень фізичного і психічного здоровʼя.

Вона також закликає Управління Верховного комісара ООН з прав людини опублікувати доповідь з детальним розглядом дискримінаційних законів і політики, актів насильства і шкідливих практик щодо інтерсексуальних людей.

За оцінками експертів ООН, до 1,7% населення народжуються зі статевими ознаками, які не відповідають типовим бінарним уявленням про чоловічі чи жіночі тіла.
