Найбільша мережа британських супермаркетів Tesco почала робити лазерні гравіювання на шкірці авокадо, які надходять у продаж. Таким чином хочуть зменшити кількість наліпок зі штрихкодом та упаковок і як наслідок – кількість пластикових відходів.

Про це повідомляє ITV. 

У мережі повідомили, що ініціативу застосують лише до деяких авокадо. Як видно на зображеннях, це будуть доволі дорогі фрукти великого розміру.

Шкірка фрукта ідеально підходить для того, щоб зняти верхній шар і нанести на неї гравіювання. Потім його зможе считати комп’ютерна програма. 

Таким чином мережа буде використовувати менше наліпок зі штрихкодом, до складу яких входить пластик. Проєкт проводять спільно із найбільшим імпортером авокадо у Британію компанією Westfalia Fruit. 

До експерименту залучать 270 магазинів на південному сході Англії, і якщо клієнтам сподобається, то практику розширять на всю мережу.

Мережа магазинів загалом закуповує 20 млн пластикови контейнерів для двох авокадо кожен. Мережа зможе відмовитися від них, якщо проєкт запустять у всіх магазинах.
