Щонайменше 30 000 ботів у соціальних мережах, пов’язаних із Росією, поширюють неправдиві новини. Зокрема, створене за допомогою штучного інтелекту відео, на якому двійник президента Франції Еммануеля Макрона скаржиться на Париж як вигрібну яму злочинності.

Відео швидко поширилося на платформах соціальних мереж YouTube і X, за допомогою ботів. Російські державні медіа розповсюдили такий же неправдивий і оманливий контент. Стаття в державній службі новин Sputnik підсумувала це так: «Припиніть призначати Олімпійські ігри на декадентському, гнилому Заході».

У звіті Microsoft про діяльність росіян йдеться: «Якщо вони не можуть взяти участь або виграти Ігри, то прагнуть підірвати, очорнити та принизити міжнародну конкуренцію».
