Львівська муніципальна мистецька бібліотека отримала понад 420 кілограмів англомовних книжок з Лондона завдяки візиту британської письменниці й головної кореспондентки The Guardian з питань культури Шарлотти Гіґґінс, яка пообіцяла поповнити колекцію закладу. Про це повідомили на інстаграм-сторінці бібліотеки.

«Арбтуки, альбоми, каталоги, журнали, книжки про історію мистецтва чи окремих художників. І навіть трішки художньої літератури. Усе це було у численних коробках, які ми отримали. Понад пів тисячі видань. Це неймовірна історія про візит до МБ, який перетворився у потужне поповнення нашої колекції», — йдеться в дописі.

До ініціативи зі збору видань для бібліотеки долучилися Gagosian Gallery, британський митець Стюарт Шейв з Modern Art, американська дизайнерка Морін Пейлі, шотландська письменниця Алі Сміт та інші.  

Бібліотека також показала лист Шарлотти Гіґґінс, в якому вона написала: «Дорогі друзі Мистецької бібліотеки, це моя коробка книг для вас. Я люблю вашу бібліотеку. До зустрічі».

Частину переданих книжок вже можна побачити на полицях бібліотеки.

Нагадаємо, раніше Український ПЕН передав 25 тисяч англомовних книжокприфронтовим бібліотекам у межах спільної ініціативи з Book Aid International, Англійським ПЕН та Міжнародним ПЕН. Таку ж кількість видань з Великої Британії очікують у серпні цього року.
