Міжнародний кінофестиваль у Торонто (TIFF) призупиняє покази фільму «Росіяни на війні», пояснивши це міркуваннями безпеки. 

Оргкомітет TIFF заявив, що отримав доповіді, які вказують на «потенційну активність у найближчі дні», що становить значний ризик. Премʼєру фільму тимчасово скасували, щоб гості, персонал і волонтери кінофестивалю були у безпеці.

Водночас TIFF продовжує вважати, що цей фільм «заслужив місце в програмі фестивалю», його хочуть показати, коли це буде безпечно. Кінофестиваль «підтримує громадянський дискурс про фільми» та мирні зібрання.

«Припинення Міжнародним кінофестивалю в Торонто показу фільму «Росіяни на війні» колишньої режисерки-документалістки Russia Today — єдине правильне рішення. Цей проєкт вже завдав значної шкоди репутації фестивалю і дав Росії шанс ще більше підірвати демократію», — зреагував генконсул України в Торонто Олег Ніколенко.

Напередодні в TIFF заявляли, що премʼєру не скасовуватимуть — на їхню думку, стрічку «в жодному разі не можна вважати російською пропагандою», бо її фінансувала Канада, а не рф.
